About THE AUTHOR

Kelly Kaur grew up in Singapore, came to Calgary to get her degrees at the University of Calgary, and stayed longer than she thought she would.

Kelly's works have appeared internationally in Singapore, Canada, the United States, Malaysia, Berlin, Prague, Australia, Zimbabwe, and the United Kingdom.

Her short story, The Kitchen is Her Home, was nominated for the Pushcart Prize XLVII. Her poem, The Justice of Death, was awarded Honourable Mention in the Creators of Justice Literary Awards, International Human Rights Art Festival (New York). She was selected for the Ulyanovsk UNESCO's The Only Question Project: 40 international writers share their questions and answers about writing. Also, her poem, Women Rising Up, is in a travelling exhibition in six museums in the North Dakota Human Rights Arts Festival from January to November 2022.

Her poem, A Singaporean’s Love Affair, is going to the moon—twice. It will be sent on the Nova Collection of the Lunar Codex—Nova-C mission (June 2022) and the Polaris Collection—Griffin mission (Fall 2023) which archives and preserves the work of contemporary creative artists on lunar time capsules launched via parnters of NASA's Artemis program.

Kelly lives in Calgary, Alberta. Kelly was recently awarded a Canada Council for the Arts Research and Creation grant for her second book, Stories in the Sky.
